BANGKOK -- Thailand is connecting its national railway with the Laos-China rail network to boost trade among the three countries, with expectations that Thailand will act as the region's logistics hub.

State Railway of Thailand's (SRT) deputy governor, Awirut Thongnate, said SRT has been working with the Lao National Railway Authority to prepare for the official opening of the Thai-Lao rail network, which is scheduled for next month. The link will connect Thailand and China by rail for the first time.
