SYDNEY -- New Zealand's ruling Labour Party is struggling ahead of the country's Oct. 14 general election, as public dissatisfaction with rising prices threatens to bring a change in government for the first time in six years.

When asked this month about declining poll numbers, Prime Minister Chris Hipkins said, "I'm not focused on losing. I'm focused on winning. The campaign is just getting started."
