TOKYO -- Japanese meat processor NH Foods looks to bring Europe a more ethical alternative to foie gras that uses chicken liver in reproducing the French delicacy.

NH Foods plans to sell the item, branded as "Gras Foie," on a trial basis in Europe as soon as this year. The meatpacker will start producing Gras Foie on European soil by around 2027.
