NEW DELHI -- India has opened another investigation into cough syrup in response to Uzbekistan's claim that 18 children died after consuming an Indian drugmaker's product, nearly three months after a similar controversy in Gambia.

The Uzbek Health Ministry said this week that 18 out of 21 children known to have taken Dok-1 Max syrup made by India's Marion Biotech had died.
