How China's peace diplomacy could endanger global stability

Beijing prioritizes showcasing its power over achieving lasting peace

TOKYO -- Mao Zedong, the founding father of modern China, famously said, "Politics is war without bloodshed, while war is politics with bloodshed."

If war is a form of politics, then efforts to end war must also be an extension of politics. China's recent actions clearly underscore this, including its attempts to mediate and resolve the bloody conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East.
