Asia needs low-cost financing to harness offshore wind

Strategic investment, partnerships are key to region's renewable energy ambitions

Asia urgently needs to supply more renewable energy to support decarbonization, energy security and economic growth. Leaders across the region understand this and pledged ambitious deployment targets at the COP28 climate summit last year. However, while the cost competitiveness of renewables -- such as wind and solar -- continues to strengthen compared to fossil fuels, many developing economies in the region remain constrained in financing the buildout of renewables and related grid infrastructure.
